A lot is machine-generated these days. Texts written by one computer and read by another. You can instantly tell when something came into being that way, and you can just as instantly tell when someone gave you real attention.
Attention is the value
True attention from a fellow human is special, valuable and impossible to imitate. The builder behind Lemmid wrote a piece about it (The future of AI is human): how, precisely in the age of clever machines, the human touch makes the difference.
That is not an opinion of today. Back in November 2024, two years after ChatGPT, he wrote why you write your own words, even when a machine is faster (Write your own words). Every month still starts on paper for him; in September 2026 he even built his own app for it, to write by hand on a Linux laptop (Omascribe). And one Sunday evening his seven-year-old son steered an AI agent himself and built a game with it (Protect Your Eggs). The machine builds, the human decides what it becomes.
